I have always found bears to be truly inspirational, comforting creatures and I am constantly amazed by the skill and patience employed by bear artists to create bears that are totally unique in design and character.
This together with a history of manufacture that goes back over 100 years gives an insight into the longevity of a collectors item that is a surely everyone’s friend.
I started selling bears upstairs at 'The Antique Map Shop' in Bath in August 2004. Known as 'Party Bears' I started with a small selection of wonderful bears from talented bear artists, and highly collectable bears from the main manufacturers.
This collection of bears has increased (as they do!) to such an extent over the past few years, that the bears have sadly outgrown their small attic home on Pulteney Bridge. For this reason they had to find their own space and a new identity.
In November 2007 their new home 'House of Bears' was found at 22a Broad Street, Bath. The bears are still very much the same - although a little older and wiser - perhaps!, and I do still get very excited when new bears come and join the hug!'
On this web site I have chosen a collection of bears that reflects the bear artist’s skill, and the historical nature of the manufactured bear.
If you have any questions about the bears or how to give them a new home, please contact me – I would love to hear from you.
Very best wishes
