When I first started selling bears, I was looking for rather an old fashioned looking bear to complement the antique nature of the shop here on Pulteney Bridge. I couldn’t believe my luck when I came across Susie’s bears, they were exactly what I had been looking for. Not only that, but when I managed to contact Susie, I found we had a lot in common; not only our love of the Teddy Bear, but also our love of antiques.

One of Susie’s passions is for antique textiles and this provides the inspiration for many of her bears. This together with her love of nature, living as she does in the New Forest, means that her creations feel inextricably linked with nature’s elements.

All Susie’s bears are created from mohair and dressed in antique clothing or clothes created from vintage textiles, they are often given antique accessories.

Susie’s bears are made in limited editions of only 1. So when you buy a ‘Kingston Bear’ you know you will be living with something that is truly unique.

Susie started making bears professionally in 1992 and after a short career break Kingston Bears was reborn in 2004. Susie has been approached by the recently formed ‘Charlie Bears’ to design an exclusive range of bruins to be launched later this year.
This is brilliant news for Susie, and deserved recognition of her obvious talent, and love for her work.
