Mary Myrtle Miniature Bears are just made to melt hearts.

When Samantha Potter, creator of Mary Myrtle Miniature Bears, made a surprise visit to see me at the Party Bears second birthday party in August of this year, I couldn’t help but be bowled over by her tiny little creations.

Mary Myrtle Miniature Bears are some of the smallest most detailed bears I have had the pleasure to meet.

Ranging in height from 5cm – 10cm, Mary Myrtle Miniature Bears are made from long-pile upholstery velvet and vintage rayon. They have thread jointed limbs and their heads are positioned (not jointed) by Samantha to create the ‘look’ she wants.

Fabric pencils and paints are used to create the detail on the bear’s faces and also for the shading on their needle sculptured toes.

Samantha, who has always been encouraged by her mother to be creative, started selling her bears at the tender age of 15 years. Still only 23 years old Samantha has a wealth of awards under her belt including the most recent 2006 – Toby Industry’s Choice winner.

This is a true accolade to her obvious talent and commitment – Samantha and her Bears are definitely going far!
